Melissa Mauri was born and raised in Northwestern CT where she embraced the journey of exploring and experiencing the enriching woodlands of the area. She draws inspiration from the intangible energy that flows through this world in every living entity and its own unique expression, from the grain of wood in a tree to its wirey branches.

Over the past couple of summers, she worked as a gardener where she had the privilege of spending lots of time on her hands and knees in the earth quietly learning lessons of life from nature in the gardens that reflect in her artwork.

She enjoys merging the physical and energetic properties to depict our raw experiences on this earth using color and texture. She always was inspired to express herself artistically ever since she was a young child and throughout high school. After high school, she went off to study at Pratt Institute for three years.
